It was started in June 2007 and continues to grow with its extensions IAO PROJECTS (spearheaded by Albert Wang), VR108, and IAO INTERNATIONAL. Its vision is to pursue contemporary creativity through education, exhibition, technology, and innovation. It is our belief that art is the soul of humanity and that the nurturing of this is paramount to fulfilled existence. THE NAME 'Iao' (pronounced - ahy-oh) or 'I-A-O' is a word or group of intonations with many sacred roots. Below are a few of them: In Gnosticism it is believed that this is that which the Aeon Sophia (Wisdom) spoke that created the universe. Therefore, it is a word of wisdom and creation... In traditional Christianity it relates to the biblical quote of "I am Alpha and Omega"... Signifying the unity of all within one. In the Hawaiian Island of Maui Iao (pronounced ee-oh) is the name of a sacred valley where Kane (creator of life) and Kanaloa (god of the underworld) meet. Again, the themes of creation & eternity meet us.
